ECTS INFORMATION GUIDE
Founding and Development of the Department of Public Administration
Nevşehir University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences with its departments of Business Administration, Economics and International Relations was established under the Rectorate of Erciyes University, with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated September 1, 1997, by being published in the Official Gazette dated September 3, 1997. Our faculty was affiliated to the Rectorate of Nevşehir University, which was established with the law numbered 5662, which entered into force by being published in the Official Gazette dated May 29, 2007 and numbered 26536. On July 12, 2007, the Department of Public Administration of our Faculty was established in accordance with the Article 7/d-2 of the Law No. 2547 of the General Council of Higher Education, amended by the Law No. 2880, and started to accept students for regular education in the 2009-2010 academic year. The medium of instruction is Turkish.
Qualification Awarded
Students who successfully complete all the courses in the programme(240 ECTS in total) with an average of at least 2.0 over 4.00 are entitled to receive a bachelor's degree in Public Administration.

Admission and Registration Conditions
High school graduates who want to study in Turkish universities are required to obtain a sufficient score from the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) and Undergraduate Placement Exam (LYS). Placements are made by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) according to the preferences of the students. Candidates who have the right to enroll in the Department of Public Administration of NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University are required to provide the documents listed on the main page of the university’s website and register between the dates specified. In the admission of students from abroad, the criteria determined by ÖSYM and the quota allocated by the University are taken into consideration.
Recognition of Prior Learning
The recognition of prior learning in Public Administration Programme at NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University requires that an equivalent undergraduate course taken at NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University or another higher education institution recognized by the Higher Education Council (YÖK) should be included in our curriculum and there should be a complete harmony between the course previously successfully completed and the course to be exempted in terms of content and course credit. The exemption and adjustment principles of the courses that the newly registered students of NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University have previously taken from any Higher Education Institution, including NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University, are determined by NevşehirHacıBektaşVeli University Exemption and Adaptation Directive.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
Students who successfully complete the programme are entitled to receive a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration.
Profile of the Programme
The main objective of the Department of Public Administration is to raise qualified individuals who have the knowledge and skills to be employed in both public and private sector, but primarily public sector, and able to transfer their knowledge into practice. In this education process, to train qualified managers, scientists and researchers who have analytical thinking skills, able to make quick decisions, identify problems and produce solutions, follow current developments, adopt the principles of efficiency, productivity and commitment to ethical values and to conduct researches in this field are among the fundamental objectives of our department.
Learning Outcomes of the Programme
Students who successfully complete this section;
Learn the basic concepts in the main branches of Public Administration, namely political science, administration science, urbanization and environmental problems and law, at the theoretical and empirical level and develop a problem-solving perspective,
Have ability to identify and compare the models of public administration around the world and in Turkey; to identify problems and develop solution oriented models,
Have ability to analyzes the elements of political and administrative systems and designs institutional systems based on these elements; able to make decision and activate coordination mechanisms that are effective in the institutionalization process,
Have ability to use information technologies at the maximum level and gain the ability to adapt to new developing technologies for more efficient use of time and resources in decision- making and the administrative process,
Have the ability to collect and analyze data and interpret the results by using the knowledge and interdisciplinary perspective in defining and solving the current problems in Public Administration,
Develop the ability to apply research methods in the field of social sciences,
Become individuals who have the ability to prepare projects by taking active responsibility in individual and team works, can express themselves in public, have self-confidence and high motivation level.
Ability to establish spoken and written communication in a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio B1 General Level,
Gains the awareness of adopting ethical values as basic values at every stage of their life and especially in their professional life,
Have the awareness of "lifelong learning" aiming continuity in education and training.
Access to Further Studies
The students graduating from our programme may apply to post-graduate programmes in the field of public administration or in other related fields if they fulfill other requirements.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
Each student has to enroll the courses at the beginning of the terms and they have to attend at least 70% of courses to take final exams. Students have to take at least one midterm exam and a final exam for each course. Midterm exams constitute 40% (assessment and evaluation instruments such as homework, laboratory exam and quiz can be evaluated as the midterm grade) and final exams %60 of the final grade. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Final exam are required to get at least 45 points. Students who have (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are counted as successful. (DC) and (DD) are the conditional success grades. Students must have a GPA of at least 2.0 in order to pass a course that they get (DC) and (DD) grades.
Graduation Requirements
To complete the programme successfully the students must have at least 2.00 grade points average on 4.00 and succeed dissertation.

Facilities
Education activities of department are maintained with 1 professor, 3 assistant professors, 2 associate professor and 6 research assistants. Our faculty building has sufficient physical facilities to fulfill the needs of our programme. The central campus of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University is equipped with everything our students might need, educational, cultural, artistic, sportive, etc. during their education period.
